Intervals are always a little scary for all students. Children have to read two notes in a row, plus predict the distance between them. As a matter of fact, it is incredibly valuable to give children a comprehensive start. Help them to feel comfortable with reading intervals and furthermore recognize them in a visual and auditory fashion. In trying to find an entertaining way to practice intervals with my students, I found the inspiration to create this game. Which indeed became the studio’s absolute favourite. Interval Ninja – 3 minutes of fun for beginner students which assists with learning and reinforcing interval recognition!
Features
To make the Interval Ninja game suitable for the different levels of interval learners, I divide the game into Interval Ninja Beginner and Interval Ninja Master.
Interval Ninja Beginner contains one title page, one instruction page, 1 page of the board game, 1 page of cards with intervals in treble clef, and 1 page of cards with intervals in bass clef. Interval range: 1st x 2, 2nd x 2, 3rd x 2, 4th x 3, 5th x 3.
Also, Interval Ninja Master contains one title page, one instruction page, 1 page of the board game, 1 page of cards with intervals in treble clef, and 1 page of cards with intervals in bass clef. Interval range: 1st x 1, 2nd x 1, 3rd x 1, 4th x 2, 5th x 2, 6th x 2, 7th x 2, 8th x 1.
As well as, Interval Ninja Bundle contains 8 pages. One title page, one instruction page, 2 pages of the board game, 2 pages of cards with intervals in treble clef, and 2 pages of cards with intervals in bass clef.
Players: 2 (student-student or student-teacher)
Preparation
- Download and save it as a PDF file.
- Laminate the game board page (optional).
- Cut cards and group them into two sets, blue for Player #1, and purple for Player #2.
NOTE: 1 page of cards (set of blue and set of purple) is used for the game.
How to Play
The players take turns rolling the die and moving their token to the correct square with the appropriate interval name, then looking for the matching interval in their card set to cover the square.
The Ninja star square allows the players to cover any square that they want. The Bonus square gives another chance to roll the die. The Start square – no action.
